Michael’s first signature guitar is called the “MAB 1 Armorflame” built by Dean Guitars.

Michael’s signature guitar called the “MAB 1 Armorflame” features an ultra slim, super fast, 24 fret neck, an Ebony fingerboard, EMG pick-ups and a Floyd Rose tremolo. Michael also kept the inlays BIG! When asked about this MAB responded, “I close my eyes a lot when I perform but when I look at the neck I want the inlays to be functional and useful.” This guitar is not just an instrument, it’s a weapon!

There is a reason that Michael Angelo was nicknamed Hands Without Shadows® in China and named the number one Shredder of all time - the man plays extremely fast. With this speed, Michael knows that clarity and attack are extremely important and he relys on his neck pickup for many of his beautiful round tones. Michael Angelo Batio is touring the world with the HWS pickups in his double guitar and relies on these pickups to produce those buttery tones when he is not busy melting his pick with his full out shred. Try out the Batio HWS humbucking in your axe today. Please note: neck position pick ups are spaced the same for all bridges. Locking tremolos, non locking tremolos and “fixed”, standard ones. The MAB pick up will work perfectly with any bridge configuration.

Guitar picks: Dunlop Jazz 3’s in black. Michael has used “teardrop” shaped picks since he first started playing the guitar. He always uses Dunlop Jazz 3’s for soloing-in concert or in the studio. Other pick sizes and thickness’ vary for acoustic guita

Strings: .009 to .042 for soloing and most rhythm guitar parts. Thicker gauge strings are also used for dropped D and detuned guitars. The Acoustic gauge is normally .010 to .046 or .011 to .052 .

Amplifiers: Marshall JCM 800, 900, 2000 and JMP 1 amps and pre amps.

Speaker cabinets: 4x12 Marshall cabinets loaded with Celestion vintage 30’s, Greenbacks in mono and stereo.

Studio outboard gear, pre amps and FX: T-Rex, Eventide Eclipse, Rocktron Intellifex, Rocktron Replifex, vintage original prototype Digitech Whammy Pedal, Cry Baby Wah pedal, Vintage Digitech 256 multi FX units, Rocktron Chameleon pre amp and Rocktron Voodoo Valve pre amp.
